I NEED input real bad. what to do with my R's
Hello everybody,
The dilemma is, on January 1 2014 my Integra Type R was wrecked.I was basically hit on the rear passenger side bumper, kinda pit maneuvered and spun backwards into the wall on the highway @55mph. assuming that the exhaust is not bent (and it doesn't look like it) I think that the back in is moved over approximately 1 to 2 inches. there are no bends in the roof or the c-piller or anything above but it did take a hefty hit. I can see some buckling underneath it. driver side rear wheel is folded under about 45 deg.
i love my car. I just don't know if it's or should I just buy another type R. it has 56,000 miles. its a salvage title due to theft.I've owned it for 8 to 10 years. I've only driven it a thousand miles maybe. I basically was putting all the good parts that I had on it.
question number one. should I fix it or sell it.
I also own another 2001 type r shell. it only has around 11,000 miles. its a salvage title due to theft too.
it has not been through Police inspection yet. the car is close to perfect but is not perfect.the roof has some minor imperfections, The Doors got some sort of chemical spilled on them and ate the clear coat and damaged the paint. what I'm getting to...I can use most of the body panels for my other car but I'll still need a paint job and probably some minor body work.
question number two. should I just take all the parts off the other car and get this one to Police inspection and roadworthy.
question number 3, should I just sell both of them - remove some of my go fast parts. then buy another type R. the one I'm looking at is11,000 dollers its 98, clean title 130k miles.
question number 4, how much is a Type R shell wrecked worth 2001 56,000 miles
sorry for being so scatterbrained if you can answer anything would br great. ask questions. I can post pictures or whatever you guys need. any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: I NEED input real bad. what to do with my R's
It all depends on how you feel personally I guess. The easiest and most cost effective route to take in my mind would be to swap out all the parts from your wrecked R onto your R shell, get it road worthy and go on from there.
Idk what your situation is like though, for myself I don't have any time to devote to a build project, and buying a complete R would be the only option right now.

thanks for your response b16ej,
i never thought that i would be contemplating this. i never drove the car that much. i wish this was my only project. i have a galant vr4 im fixing (bent valves). i have a 74 repu. 93 db2. 96 gsr with a vtec-e d15z1 (for high gass prices).
the part of me longing for simplification wants to get rid of it all.
the part of me that never backs down thinks i can do it all.

Re: I NEED input real bad. what to do with my R's
I picked up an ITR that was wrecked in the rear back in 2011 or 2010. Had about 57k miles on it. Paid $5k, kept the swap and 5 lug, parted the rest to the ITR community.

Omg my head started spinning just contemplating all those projects lol. I had a few projects on the go at one point too, I guess if you are making progress with the projects then I would say continue, but if they are just piling up and collecting dust with intentions of one day getting the projects done then now might be a good time to clean house.
I was holding onto a bunch of stuff and after finally letting it all go I must say the feeling was so liberating, extra space, extra money, plus unloading all the mental baggage was probably the best feeling, I could then focus on just getting my R where I wanted it to be and I'm much happier I got rid of the other stuff.
My approach now with cars is to only bite off what I can chew. One day when I retire I might start collecting parts for projects but now I'm just too busy with my family and work.
Good luck with your decision

denverteg,
That 98 R in your town has rust starting in the usual rear quarter spot. I emailed and asked the owner last night. That should definitely play into your equation right now.

SIClone your a badass!
what do you think the 98 R is worth?
I should have contacted you guys years ago, instead of just reading through the site. I'll post pic tonight. maybe some one will think it's repairable, mind you if i do fix it im going to drive it hard. because driving the speed limit did not help.

That's too bad... There's also the person that put up a thread with a yellow ITR that's totaled, that's 2 R's in the last cpl weeks that bit the dust.
Guys don't forget to tell your ITR you love her tonight, because you just never know...
