I need help!!! (Rebuilt title ITR owners especially)
Ok, found this today while I was lookin at Type R's http://www.daytonaautomall.com/used-...eHistory=true##
I need opinions an some questions answered. Before I get to the questions. FYI: The car does not have "true type r engine" as stated on the listing..
1. Does a rebuilt title really matter? Obviously its been inspected if its at a dealership.
2. Does a rebuilt title considerably devalue what it be worth? Or is it that the motor is prob a gsr? How can I tell if its at least got a lsd?
3. Looks like the interior is in tact except the floor mats. Anything else I should look for when I go see it?
4. IF it was a true title an b18c5 it book for 13,650.. Keep that in mind as well.
I am really just looking to see what you guys think about it. Is it worth 10k with a rebuilt title an no ITR engine? What if it was a k20?
I ask cause I would do it simply cause I could trade in my prelude for it.
I dunno.. I'd much rather have full title an low miles.. I dunno.. Help meh..
Id REALLY love to hear from some of you that have rebuilt titles an tell me what your experiences have been.. Howd it go insuring it? More expensive? Less?

Looks like it could have been a theft recovery as the door panels don't have the carbon look switches May not be true milage as the cluster might not be original. Why dont you just call and find out mor info. Find out her badge number too

As far as the pictures go, everything seems to be ok. Go down and look at it, see what kind of engine is in there. The engine codes are as follows, b18c either jdm itr or gsr, b18c5 usdm itr, b18c1 usdm gsr, b16b jdm ctr, b16a, b16a1, b16a2 jdm and usdm civics, k20a1, k20a2 rsx type s, k20a4 ep3, k24a1 tsx, k24a4 accord/crv...
If the car has any of the above mentioned engines, its worth it imo, anything else is not. Just my 2c.

Ohhhhh yes. I bought my R with a rebuilt title and when it was stolen, even though I had full coverage they only gave me $7,000 when I purchased the car for $16,000. In my opinion, I wouldn't buy another rebuilt title car, ever. Especially an ITR. I learned my lesson.
Good luck though.

UPdate:
I went to see the car.. Here is what I found..
THE GOOD:
1. Body is in really good shape. No dents or dings except the hood has a few gashes.
2. Seats are in great shape. Front an back, as well as the interior/console/dash
3. Engine bay is VERY clean. Engine is very clean. Truck and underbelly have no rust
4. Drives straight an true. Felt good.
THE BAD
1. Custom rims, has a slight vibration.. Typical with low profile cheap rims.
2. Clutch lets out knowhere near where it should. Lets out about 2 inches from release. Will need to be replaced.
3. Engine is a b18c1 with a cai.. It sounds like crap. Its not a rapping, but a tick, typical of a prelude cams sound.
4. Car has no badge, no explanation where it is. Console is there with 4 holes in it..
How negotiations went:
Car was for sale for 9,995 They ran my credit, which is great. They came back an said they would give me 2k for my prelude, which I had already assumed.. So I would finance 8k.. I did not agree to this an went into extensive detail about my findings an worries.. He went an got the boss...
Boss sits down an asks me what magic number I had in my head to get me in the car right now.. I told him I did not have one, that the rebuilt title an beat on clutch worry me that the motor could give out on me an that IF it was stolen id get a fraction of the cost in return after a hefty premium.... So he walks away an comes back with 2 numbers....
2k down with tradein 7800 for caR if they fix the clutch...
2k down with tradein 7000 for caR without fixing the clutch.
no finance, meaning I would have to get cash or my own loan..
As of now, after reading comments an my own wants an needs, I left without the caR (BIG frakkin sad face)
I dont like the black, or rebuilt title or a flimsy gsr motor. After the deal he put down, am I crazy?

I had the PY an ADORED IT. My girl hates it. Till about a week ago when we discussed me getting another, I had not once given a CW a second glance. I know that sounds rediculous. But I liked what I liked. I have since then, been through every owners photos here an I have to say, I think my next one WILL be CW
I am a believer now. That made her alot more willing to play along

you did the right thing by walking away. the price is just not where it should be with it being a rebuilt-titled car, with the clutch the way it is, and without the c1 engine. i would maaaybe bite if it was a 1000 less.

You did the right thing. A rebuilt ITR with a GSR swap and a bunch of missing things for 9k is just not worth it. Hell, I walked away from a Clean title 01 ITR with a GSR swap with everything original for 6k. IMO, if its not all original and at least a clean title, I wouldnt pay that type of money as you can get a better one for a little more.

I'd say 6,000.00 would be good deal.
