That's what I generally do, too, but when the time comes to totally change out the brake fluid, it really makes you wonder what you're supposed to do about the fluid in the ABS pump.
I have no idea how to change it.
On the track, if you activated ABS you'd be circulating the old brake fluid into the new brake fluid, obviously contaminating and eventually reducing its effectiveness.
I'd love to be able to change out the whole system at once.
The only advice I remember in the past was a techie person telling us to change out the fluid, and then go out and activate ABS a few times, and bleed the brakes again.
That never sounded right to me.
If somebody knows the right way for a back yard mechanic to do it, I'd love to hear it!!

I think you'd better be sure of the person who gave you this information, or get a few more opinions before you took that as the absolute truth.
No offence to the person who told you this, because I cannot claim to know the truth, either.
The reason I'd ask for you to collect more opinions is that I'm aware of a Honda dealer notice that many 2006-2007 Accord six cylinder cars that came with both ABS and VSA will need to spend some time with thorough bleeding and even expensive (to the dealer and Honda) pump replacements after repeated cycling that had the VSA and ABS working at the same time.
Apparently air can get in at least those Accord systems, requiring quite a bit of work to get it out.
