Dent removal using dry ice
haha...I tried the technique of using dry ice and a heat gun to remove a dent the other day; it actually worked, to some extent. My dent was right on the side impact beam and a little below. The area on the impact beam protruded, while the area underneath was dented in. I used a huge piece of dry ice to cool it down, then the heat gun; slowly but surely the metal reformed. The dent is gone now but I still have the protuding points on the side impact beam on my teg. Dent Pro even said that they could not do anything about the side impact beam areas. I'm pretty satisfied and just wanted to suggest this method if you guys have any small dents.

Re: Dent removal using dry ice (SamC)
Extremely low temperatures from the dry ice will cause the metal to shrink; when the metal shrinks it pulls and when it pulls it will conform back to it's original shape....theoretically. The heat gun will be used to heat up the dented area, which will make the metal more flexible. My dent is still noticeable but it's a lot better than before. This only works on small dents/dings. I tried some other dents on my car and nothing happened...so it really depends on the damage.

Re: Dent removal using dry ice (hungsteR)
Any before and after pics?
Hungster...I remember seeing your post about the damage on your car; in your pic it looks like your damage on your door is pretty much in the same area as where mine was. I'm not sure if it will work since your's looks like it's on a crease.

Re: Dent removal using dry ice (Rob :190:)
Saw a guy use that technique on Monster Garage on the chipper shredder van where the outlet for the chipper was. He used a torch and dry ice though. In the end they had to have the guy who paints the cars for the show bondo the roof due to the waves in it.

I always wanted to invest in one of those dent kits and take out dents on other cars and stuff for cheap for experience for me to do my own car and other people who are friends and stuff.

It is a useful trick, just gotta be careful. If you change the tempature of the paint to quickly it can cause the clearcoat to crack due to the stress.
Just be careful, it does a good job in most cases. The dents that I have been unable to remove completely, it has reduced the visibility of them greatly.

Re: Dent removal using dry ice (StyleTEG)
I read a post from Styleteg and that is where I got the idea. Thanks for the idea man...
I agree, I was very careful in applying the dry ice and heat, keeping in mind the extreme and harse temeratures that the paint would have to endure.
