Default Power steering / Check engine light

Would removing the p/s belt cause the check engine light to come on? want to make sure before i drop 200 at a shop to diganose it.

No it will not cause the check engine light to come on.

its actually the matinence light, didnt know they were different....... im a noob to imports...

You can easily solve both.

For the CEL, you can trip the jumper and read the code (blinks). Search to find out how.

For the maintenance light, reach your hand under the dash right in line with the accelerator pedal - there will be a small box with a button. Hold it down to reset the Maint. light
