Clicking noise coming from clutch???
Hi guys, the R recently developed a clicking noise coming from the clutch. The noise occurs as the clutch is being pushed in and at about 3/4 of the way down. It almost sounds like a crunch right before it makes the clicking noise. The clutch itself feels 100% normal, grabs fine, pressure is fine but the damn noise is getting annoying.
Any ideas as to what the issue is? A quick inspection showed nothing out of the ordinary. Thanks for any input.

So nobody knows what makes this noise? Damn it people I want answers!
It is very annoying, I have to bump the tunes to drown it out. Would be nice to get rid of it.

how many km's?
any track use?
the release bearing could be the issue. have you swapped it out yet?
Willis
-on release bearing #3 (with ~141,500km's) (and does not sit at traffic singals with his foot on the clutch)

Re: (freakygeek)
Yup, he's right about the CR & FD.
I'll try to grease the clutch and see how that goes.
Car has 56,500 k's and has seen one track day very early in its life.

I do. Err, well, I did, until I got that stiff-*** Action 2MD Now it's less effort just to put it in neutral and sit with the clutch released.

Edit: My clutch clicks, but I can't hear it over my [insert car noise here] anymore.

Re: Clicking noise coming from clutch??? (Chris DC2)
Its not the throw-out bearing, its coming from the inside of the car. Doesn't matter if the car is off/on, I'll try some grease on the shaft and if that doesn't work oh well. Its not that bad but I figured if there is an easy fix I'd do it.

Re: Clicking noise coming from clutch???
i know this is kind of a necropost but mine just started doing this tonight. every now and then there is a click that's coming out of the trans/clutch area. car drives fine did we ever figure out the common cause for this? basically when you let it out real slow off the floor there is a solid click. push it in half way & let it out, no click

Re: Clicking noise coming from clutch???
another self cure. oddly the TB was sticking. cycling it back and forth to move the grease around fixed the issue. if anyone else hears clicking from the transmission area, before you tear it apart try moving the clutch fork both directions as far as you can a few times. pushing it toward the slave and back fixed the issue.

Re: Clicking noise coming from clutch???
racebum nailed it. I was having the same problem, a strange click/pop when the clutch was depressed. greased up the clutch fork and inner area, and boom. problem solved. no more click/pop and no more squeaking when slave engages with the fork. thanks again, HT.

Re: Clicking noise coming from clutch???
A Honda mechanic found on my 2005 Honda S2000 that, as you depress the clutch pedal, the pushrod entering the master cylinder is tapping against the side of the master cylinder. He got it to stop tapping by slightly twisting the pushrod. But he said that it will inevitably begin to tap the side again. The solution is to replace the master cylinder. I'll have the master cylinder replaced at my local garage because, at an estimated $425, their estimate was $175 cheaper than that of the Honda dealership.
