California and the B18C
Im building my motor this time no swaps, nothing for alot of power. Im going JDM i already bought a brand new b18c Head Complete but heres the catch. I want to get a b18c block but around where i live all the smog places know b18c block is jdm and isnt smog legal unless its bared. My soul questions is should i just keep the c5 block and change the internals and head and call it JDM motor or go the whole 9 yards and bar the b18c no cels will pop up because i have s300. I just want a little info from the senior guys that live and reside in california.

What do your mean your going "JDM"????
But anyways you can not pass Cali smog with s300 on.
You will need smog hookups or smog exemption for ever.

Our cars are OBD2. The smog or Ref guy will hook up there smog computer to our ITR's OBD2 port and there computer screen will show ERROR or Unable to read. Congrats you did not pass.
NOw if your car was obd1 then yeah hondata might still work because the smog tech does not hook up to the OBD port.

Use two ECU's. Stock one for smogs. Hondata S300 for tunning and everyday.
Or just pay for smog hookup. I had a test only smog due last year. I paid $220 to get that done

thanks after few hours of researching and reading i came up with the same conclusion. it would be easy simple way. plus if someone steals your ecu aka theifs you got a spare lol
