Default 98R #965

Well, I finally got a type R, after obsessing over the many type R forums, and wheeling and dealing parts for the last year, I sold my GS-R and picked up up this R. I felt like i got it for a steal at 5670 out of my pocket. It definitely needs some work and I will do all in my power, to use OEM parts, and return it back to its original goodness. My budget would not allow my to buy an all originally type R but I honestly wanted one I could track without feeling guilty anyway. At least this has original doors, motor, trans, cluster, and badge. Thats pretty hard these days.

Its specs are:
Jackson Supercharger full kit, stock 5.5 lbs
Kamikaze Header
Mugen Twinloop
Spoon Lower tie Bar
Ground Control Coilovers
KYB or something struts (gotta replace)
Function 7 LCA's.
TDM X brace
B&M short shifter
Skunk2 shift ****

I'm working on getting new emblems and stickers (I cant believe the sticker for the black type R's are more expensive!). I have to replace the normal seals around the valve cover and can't decided if I wanna replace the blue valve cover or try to paint it VHT crinkle red. (Hey 10 bucks is a lot better than 200.00) Need to get the shifter boot and housing fixed and get the shifter from banging against the cat. Not sure how I will tune this, I can't seem to find the older comptech/cartech FMU that worked really well with this kit. Hondata is an option if i can pick it up cheap!

Not sure how many owners the car has been through, I know I'm at least the third. But this car wont be changing hands anytime soon I don't think. The orginal owner or the owner before the person i purchased it from seem to have really done there homework on the car and I can honestly say I could not have chosen better parts. The owner before me I can't say as much, I believe that may have ran into money issues and I understand that, but this ***** a little ghetto at the end of the day. And I think they took the NGK plugs off between me looking at it and buying it!

On with the pics!!! These are some I have found by researching the car!
When it was CW!!!

Then after the owner I got it from, did some weird ****, it ended up with a 94-97 front end that was originally red.

Lastly, Pics that the seller had posted!

Yeah, the front end change is not cool, but I have to admit overall the car looks good, they let the wheels go to hell so i have to repaint those, that yellowish tint in the pics is due to baked on brake dust. Right now I want to just clean everything up that I can. Some interior pieces, body work, and engine bay. The power steering needs to be looped properly and various hard-lines removed. It has some crazy hoses to the different vacumm lines so I wanna clean those and and double check everything. I just wanna give it a full tune up, included ALL fluids and the likes. It stumbles a little bit around 2-3K at certain throttle positions so I have to see what that is about.

My long time goal, is to make it a semi-realiable track car that I can really enjoy. I believe with the stock boost set up should last fine, and give the car some more pep in the straights but nothing that I built type R could not keep up with.

Side note, so when I called Geico to switch insurance from the 95 gsr with 225k to the 98 type R with 126 my insurance went down 14 dollars. They called it an "integra R" and i gave them the VIN and did not open my mouth! Hell YES!

congrats on the pickup man. Now the most important question, what will be your first track event? There are plenty more this year that I know many of us are doing if you're interested.

I did! Do I regret it 5 years later? Yes. Going back to CW in hopefully 4 years time.

Congrats on the pickup OP. You got that car for a steal.

I also believe srt4mike needs an ITR Congrats on the pick up Keep us updated on what you do with her! I just finished paying off my car, so hopefully I get something figured out soon. I have a few specific ITRs in mind, but they are still just a bit out of my budget. I may not be getting one real soon, but I'm now a hell of a lot closer

Your insurance dropped in price because the car is newer.

Very nice R, glad you picked one up : )
