I just bought a 90 teg for a daily beater. Well the car had a blown hg and sat around for a long time. Long story short, I bought another block and swapped that in, started her up but its constantly pouring white smoke out the exhaust, I pulled out all the plugs and looked in to find oil covering all 4 pistons, all 4 brand new spark plugs are now completely black..oil looks unburnt....motor sounds good no knock or nothing.

So I have 3 things I have in mind that could be wrong with it:

-Somehow HG got damage during the installed (brand new hg) or accidently installed it upside down, which I'm sure isn't the problem since the hg had a labeled "UP" on it.

-Since the car sat for so long with coolant/oil mixed in it the valve seals/guides are gone.

-I got screwed over and the used block I bought got blown rings? but If its the rings wouldn't it be puffing blueish smoke instead of white? and what are the chances of blown rings on all 4 pistons?

-One more theory: Bad valve cover sparkplug seals, oil is leaking thru when I took out the spark plugs..oil looks unburnt?

warped head or block. did you have the mating surfaces machined before the install?

I didn't, i picked the car up for a few hundred bucks its just gonna be a beater so I didn't care to...I have an extra head that I could try...

measure the head and deck with a straightedge. i've fixed a tractor with a warped head by using my air sander on it. if you really want to go redneck you could use an air sander and 180 or 220 grit to remove everything and at least give it a perfectly clean surface. if it's only off .005 or so you may get a seal. your problems sound typical of a failed HG.

Imma pull the head off tomorrow to take a look..I might just try on the extra head I have.

get something really straight and flat. those metal rulers that you use in the science lab would even work. brake cleaner and light sandpaper work great on those old motors to pull the build up of crap off so you can get a good seal. also, when the piston is in the bore you should be able to rock it. get a really bright light and check for broken rights. if you have guide issues you should be able to see oil and black crap coated all over the valve when you look in the intake and exhaust ports.

Warped block, bad valve seals, bad rings, bad spark plug grommets, etc....There are several things that could be causing this. Some are worse than others. Good luck

took off the head and found oil in intake ports and oil out the exhaust ports, valve seals?

guides and seals would be my guess. if you do the seals wiggle the valves and see if the guides are shot. my guess is they are but you can tell for sure if you wiggle the valve. if any movement is felt they are shot.
