Whats the difference btw these two NGK Iridium Spark Plugs??
So whats the difference btw these two NGK Iridium Spark Plugs other than the price??
NGK Iridium plug 6741 IFR6E-11 0.052 DOHC; VTEC $11.71
NGK IX iridium 3764 BKR6EIX-11 0.052 DOHC; VTEC $6.95
Thats a pretty big difference in price.
Is it worth paying the $5 for the more expensive one??

the difference is that you can't eat lunch if you get the more expensive one! haha NGK COPPERS! that's the extra value meal right there!

Unless you are heavily modded, beyond just I/H/E, your best bet is to use the NGK or Denso plug specified for your engine.
Iridium will last longer than platinum, which lasts longer than copper, etc.
It's part of the reason my '03 RSX has a change interval of 100k miles for the plugs. I still changed them out at 50k, though. I don't know if a 100k plug would even come out of the head.

besides my CAI, i'm all stock. so that's why i used the coppers. don't spend the extra money if you don't really need the irridium or platinum plugs

Iridium plugs are intended for forced induction engines, etc as they have a colder heat range. They're not going to make a bit of difference on a lightly modified engine.

The OEM Plantiums that come with the car are $11.71 each.
The Iridiums are $6.95 each.
So might as well get the $6.95 Iridiums instead of the oem ones since Iridiums last longer.

I believe he was asking why one iridium spark plug was priced almos twice as much as another iridium plug...he wasn't comparing platniums or coppers. And I think that the reason for this is that the entire tip of the more expensive iridium plug is made of iridium. Where as, only the electrode of the less expensive iridium plug is iridium.

By using iridium plugs, you run the risk of the electrode breaking off and causing a good amount of piston head and or valve damage, even more so with a forced induction motor.

umm if i recall correctly, iridiums run hotter. The coppers are for force induction or nitrous because they are usually two step colder.

Hotter/colder is a matter of the plug's heat range indicated by the plug number. Although one type may take heat better than the other, the actual heat range is determined by the plug number.
If both types the OP listed are true iridium, yes, one may only have an iridium tip to make it cheaper. Long story short, why not just use the type specified for your engine?

Denso's and such typically run one step colder from what I've seen. You are right though, it depends on the # whether it be 16 to 34 more than the type of plug. Iridium is supposedly better because it has a melting point of 700 deg. higher than platinum.
