what does a lack of codes mean? why is my SRS blinking?
I tried to jump my ECU for codes, and it seems to be working except that the Check Engine Light stays illuminated, and the SRS light blinks continuously... what does this mean?

so - the check engine light is supposed to stay illuminated to tell you the SRS needs work?
or - does the check engine light stay illuminated for other reasons? (i thought it was supposed to shut off after a few seconds)

make sure it's your check engine light, and not your service light....sounds dumb but some people have mistake one for the other.
regarding the srs system, I heard once that the dealer covers that at no cost......not sure if this is true, but it's worth checking out.

are you wearing your seatbelt. My srs light alwasys goes off when i put my seatbelt on. I think srs stands for supplement restraint system and also has to do with airbags as stated before. If seatbelt doesnt turn it off, go to dealer and get it checked out.

So you put the jumper wire in the diagnostic connector's terminals, and the Check Engine light stays on steady?

If there is an engine fault code registered in the ECU, the check engine light will come on steady to let you know there is a code stored. To get the code, you have to put a wire or paper clip into the 2 terminals of the diagnostic connector located near the ECU, and then the CEL will flash out a sequence of numbers to indicate what code or codes have been stored.
I believe this only applies to OBD-1 cars, not sure how to get codes on OBD-2 cars.

I put the paper clip into the terminals to jump for a code - and that's when the light stayed on without flashing. I'm talking about the check engine light either not going away or not blinking - while jumping for codes.
