anyone get a bad smell after using the AC? a kinda moldy smell. how do i get rid of it?

let the fan run for abit with out the AC on.. or use the heater to get rid of the water stuck in the blender area, it usually works for me.. also put some air fresheners infront of the vents helps alot..

that sour smell goes away if you run the heater to kill all the bacteria build up in your a/c

yea had the same problem... especially from the transition of climates from being cold to hot, produced a moldy like smell coming from the vents. is this a problem in hondas? my friend also has a similar problem in his accord

i read some where that you run the vents at full steam with heat after spraying lysol into the vents. this should clear up the mildew and other things that have collected there.

The smell comes from using the a/c and then shutting the car down after a short ride. This encourages moisture build up in the ventilation system. Its suggested to turn off the a/c and run it for a min or two before shutting the car off.

Ive been using this trick on all of my cars and it seems to work out well.

if the smell. doesnt go away... it could me a rodent. they love to eat a/c hoses and ****.. i see it at work alot..

Frigi- Fresh, its made by BG. it kills the bacteria and freshens the air conditioning system. Just turn on ac, press teh fresh air button, and spary into vent. Works like a charm. I think the lysol trick works also

That smell is actually from FUNGUS. It happens to a lot of cars due to condensation build up in certain areas of the the HVAC box. Lysol works ok, but the smell of lysol lingers for a long time. The best solution is using a fogger/mist type system for sending the anti-fungal solution to every little nook and cranny of the HVAC box. There are certain mobile air conditioning places that have that service it's about 100.00. Expensive

it happens in almost every car...not just hondas...just turn on heater full blast....should be good.....

try running the heater as hot as possible to kill the fungus and dry up the moisture trapped in the ac. also, use the outside setting to draw in fresh air instead of the recirculation setting. doing these things cleared up the smell in a 90 gs that we recently purchased.

also, check under your car to make sure the ac drip line isn't pinched shut somehow.

just don't leave your recirc on, so when you drive, fresh air will dry out the ventillation system. Some newer M-B's will automatically switch back to fresh air after 15min to prevent this mold buildup...
