recently my 1994 gsr hasnt been idling higher when cold. it used to idle at like 2k when i would start it up. now it idles low and almost dies if i turn the wheel(power steering). Also the engine maintence light flashes about 5 times. no check engine tho. i tried cleaing my iac but no luck. everything is normal when the car has warmed up. any idea what this could be?

I just replaced the temp with a pep boys one. Maybe it already went bad? Is there anyway to test it with a multi meter? How do I reset the light?

button under the dash to reset the light.

Fast idle when cold is controlled by the FITV (fast idle thermo valve) on the throttle body. Might need to clean that out. There's an on-going thread about how to clean it here in the Integra forum.

Clean FITV, clean IACV, adjust your idle.

i kind of have a similar problem i drive a 98 ls 5sp
i noticed when i wake up late for work and dont warm up my car as long as usual
when stopped (at a red light) rpm goes up likes its revving but after a while it goes down
would it be same fix?

Try cleaning the IACV.

96+ don't have FITVs.

This is normal I think. It revs higher when it hasn't completely warmed up, but when you drive it, you force the rpms lower depending on the gear obviously.

Then when you stop and it's no longer in gear, the rpms will climb a bit, it usually does this for me at the red light like 10 seconds up the road from me but it warms up enough after this.

My idle is funny too. Sometimes it's perfect but most the time it fluctuates between 750 rpm's and 1250 rpm's, but on a regular pattern. Then after about a minute of idling that way it'll usually even out around 500 to 750 and stay there, idling just fine. If anyone knows what may cause this i'd greatly appreciate it.

How many rpms should my idle be at? It's a b18c1 with turbo.

So I just need to flush my coolant? How does that effect my idle? Can anyone tell me why? Thanks. I guess this is something I should know, but don't.

I was also thinking about using red-line water wetter when I do this. Any opinions?

How is that common sense? I know tons about Integras and Hondas, but I don't see how coolant could cause an idle fluctuation.

Thanks, I almost believed that. Any ideas for me? It's not a big deal, but I love my car, and just want her running perfect.
