T-belt snaped, how do I tell if a also bent a valve?
EDIT.... found answer. I will have to leakdown test or else take off head to inspect valves.
My brother DA timing belt broke on the freeway.
I just bought new replacement parts (t-belt, water pump & gasket, tensioner).
Before I waste my time installing the new parts I wanted to see if any valves may have gotten bent. I know when my F22 belt snapped it bent 1 intake valve. If a valve is bent, then I can replace the valve & can do the headgasket all at the same time.

i broke my timing belt 2 months ago, i was in about 3rd gear going 30 mph, i even tried cranking it 4 time's, replaced the belt, did compression test, all numbers were within 10psi of each other, runs perfect!

t-belt just snapped as well
GF was driving it when it happened. According to her, it happened to her while she was idle at a red light, and the car died. Didn't sound like the t-belt snapped while the engine was under load, so I hope the damage isn't too expensive. Is there anything else I should worry about in addition to bent valves when doing the repair?

Yep just put on a new belt, make sure the timing is right, and check the compression. If it's good, start it up.

Cool, thanks for feedback guys. Since the t-belt's being replaced, I think I'm going to start modding. Stock 94 GSR. 140k freeway miles. Any hints / tips / suggestions, let's hear em!

mod your manifold or go with a skunk2, if you mod the stock gsr, just remove iab and butterflys, when i went to a skunk2 i consistently knocked .5s off my 1/4 mile time, i have everything replaced and upgraded, transmission,flywheel/clutch,all bolt ons, etc.. PER dollar, your most effective bolt on will be a turbo kit, yea its more expensive than just a manifold here or a pulley kit there, but its one i wish i would have done at first.. so, x2 on the snail!

hahaha!! Thanks for suggestions guys. I wanna mod and keep this NA / all motor. I'm already having fun with snails with my other car. There's just something about a NA rev happy car...

haha no way. I am a noob to modding this car, any advice is appreciated. Plus, isn't throwing turbos on this thing even more expensive? I was thinking intake/headers/exhaust for starters, as well as fixing this suspension which almost worn out...

to get real NA power costs a lot of money on a honda. But yeah I/h/e, intake mani, cams and a tune is always fun

i feel like i'm getting a chance to relive the younger days by doing this
thanks again for the feedback, I'm sure you'll hear from me again in the near future as my questions start building up when I start this whole thing...

I'll vote against turbocharging. Although turbo setups can be made at least somewhat reliable, an old motor like yours will have its life expectancy reduced even by a good build. If you want more detailed info on build suggestions maybe you should start your own thread though

oops, you're right, sorry for threadjacking
back to topic...finally had time to check out the engine, and indeed, the t-belt snapped. considering a so-called mechanic had done major tune-up/maintenance just 10k miles ago. But what's done is done. Next will be compression test...(fingers crossed)
