Default does anyone know what the best cam gears settings are?

I have a gsr head with stock valve train. The only upgrade i did was the 98 spec type-r cams, and str cam gears. Does anyone know wat the optimal settings are for the camgears?

Get it dyno tuned. There are no optimal settings in general. It's always specific to that engine and that engine alone.

What he said....it all depends on what you have done. There are no optimal settings unless you are running stock

The guy at the dyno sets the gears and runs it. Moves the gears and runs it again. He finds the setting that makes the best power. Once he is done, you don't change the gear settings.

Maybe in your area. Going rate in Cali is around $100/hour. At least the shops that I have been to.

Just curious.. whats the stock ignition timing set at on B16A2's? and what would you have to set it at when changing cam gear settings? do you even have to change the timing? Whats a reasonable timing setting for lets say +3/-1. Let me ask this as well... what will increasing/decreasing do for you? I.E. more power/less power, and what would happen with the wrong setting?

Ignition timing on all B-series VTEC engines is 16 +/- 2 degrees BTDC. Alot of people go the +2 route and set it to 18 for a little extra pep.

Cam gears does nothing to ignition timing, cam gears changes cam timing. You MUST have them tuned and set on a dyno, it's the only way to find the optimal setting for your particular engine. Trying to use the butt dyno or anyone else's settings is purely a waste of time and could even net you power losses.
