synthetic got mixed with convention oil!
a family member of mine was using my car and decided to check my oil. i was a little low so they topped it up with some conventional oil. the problem is that i'm using synthetic oil. should i change my oil asap? i won't be able to change it for a couple of days. will this harm the engine? i'm sure that there wasn't alot of dino oil put in. thanks

Synthetic plus conventional = synthetic blend, very commonly sold by oil companies for cars. And no you do not need to change the oil because synthetic wasn't used to top off....

yep, it's ok the mix dino with synthetic, but it's not good to mix synthetic with synthetic from what I've read.

I think oil is oil, synthetic probably just holds up better and resists harshing conditions while providing better lube properties. I add conventional oil all time when I'm adding oil. During a change I usually use mobil 1, but lately I haven't really cared too much for the oil. But why pour in oil thats $4-$5 a quart right before a oil change???
