Shifter won't go into gear when the engine is on after installing new clutch
Hi,
Last week, I went to the race track. As I shifted into 3rd, it was very hard to shift into and after that my car wouldn't move. I had it towed home and ripped the transmission out to discover a blown clutch disc. I ordered a ACT 6 puck clutch disc and my friend gave me his Stage 2 Exedy pressure plate with 2,000 miles on it. I'm currently running a Toda flywheel. Is there anything wrong with my setup?
Well I assembled everything today and thought I did everything correctly. Fired it up and I couldn't get it into any gear. The clutch pedal had a lot of play and was stiff, but wouldn't disengage. With the engine off, I could go into gear. Started the car in gear and it would move. I noticed that when I tried to put it in gear with the engine on, the car would move slowly, but the gear wouldn't engage. I checked out the slave cylinder and it moves when I press in the clutch.
I moved the shift fork back and forth and its super loose. I'm guessing the spring holding the throwout bearing is damaged, or the bearing is damaged? It worked fine when I checked it out before I put the transmission back on. Could it be anything else? I'm tired of taking the transmission on and off. I would appreciate any help pinpointing the problem. Thanks.
