Shake at Higher Speeds and Braking
Hey guys so my 91 Integra has a slight shake at higher speeds like 50 mph and up. It's not a real bad shake but when I am cruising down the road I can see the steering wheel kinda wobble. Then when I hit the brakes at like 50mph or over it shakes like a bitch. The following has been done to the car within the last year or 2:
-All 4 brake rotors and pads
-3 front balljoints
-Both front tie rod ends
-CV axles
Any ideas guys? Could it be a bad wheel bearing?

Re: Shake at Higher Speeds and Braking
I have to agree with both the above, wheel balance and wheel alignment, [all 4 wheels] if for no other reason other then to eliminate them as the problem.
Why would you only do 3 ball-joints?94

He guys I forgot to mention it has 4 new tires on it. They have around 15,000 miles on them. They were all balanced. I had an alignment done at the same time.

im having this same problem so if you find the problem please post it up.
i did brake pads on mine and looped the lines as well but i think i need to re-do the looping cause it was leaking so that along with bad tierod ball joints is probably the major part in mine along with a bad master cylinder because i checked my rotors with a precision straight edge and it was in spec as well as re did all my balancing even though only 1 tire was off by .2 and had an alightment a month ago

You most likely wont be able to see a warped rotor with the naked eye unless it is reallly bad. And by the sounds of your problem, yours would be small otherwise you would feel it more at lower speeds as well.

Re: Shake at Higher Speeds and Braking
The warp would have to be very small not to be able to tell, all you need to do is look between the brake pads as you rotate the disk, [turn the wheel] or place a "feeler", [stiff wire, like bailing wire] close to the rotor and spin the rotor. 94

Re: Shake at Higher Speeds and Braking
Sounds like the rotors are warped only slightly if you fell it at higher speeds. The BEST way to test it is to use a dial indicator that is mounted somewhere solid and against the rotor. If it reads more than .002"-.003", then the rotor is bad. If you don' have a dial indicator, use a feeler gauge and determine which one fits between the pad and rotor JUST so it's a LITTLE bit snug. Hold it there and spin the rotor, if the gauge fits tighter, or looser at anytime during rotation, then the rotor is bad.
Even though you recently replaced the rotors, they can still be bad if you somehow overheated them, and then they cooled un-evenly. This is what usually causes new-ish rotors to warp.
Hope this helped!!
