Rolled my teg... chances of motor still working?
so it was a hit n run at a merger on the freeway... guy came on the shoulder and pushed me from the driver side rear... like a tactical move as if he did it on purpose... he got away... i fish tailed then lost control at about 65+ mph, into a 180, into a curb which sent my teg rolling twice up a hill on the side of the freeway... i landed right side up and the engine was off... i'm not sure if i stalled the car as i was rolling, or if it turned off due to engine failure... i sure hope not... the car is beyond totaled, but the motor "looks" good... im gonna try to start it up in a few days when i get a battery and if its good ill pull the motor out and sell it or drop it in a shell... do you all think its possible that the motor is still good? i know ill find out soon but i just wanna get some opinions before hand because im pretty stressed out... my TE37's all bent too =( can they be fixed? i heard forged wheels cant be repaired...

ther really is no telling i got hit head on the guy who hit me was doing 35 and so was I. They had to cut me out. My motor was fine except one of the motor mounts had been pulled out the block but that was fixed pretty easy. Its sitting in a little boosted EK. It kinda a flip of the coin.

I wouldn't imagine how to engine would be damaged unless something hit it directly. If the body took all of the blows during the accident, it wouldn't matter if the engine got flipped upside down briefly as long as the oil was still being picked up.

i can, the oil pump doesn't work upside down.

no...but he said the engine was off when he landed. So unless he was running the engine for like 20 mins while it was upside down (he wasn't), the oil pump issue doesn't matter.
I'm sure it's fine. Why don't you just jump start it with someone else's car?

that split second that the motor's running upside down (if the car didn't stall before rolling, which it probably did) won't kill a motor. me and my bro both have had cars with motors out of rolled cars, my bro is actually still driving his. if the motor doesn't have any visible outside damage then it should be ok.

Should be okay. Like mouab18c1 said: drain it, refill it, visually inspect it really good and give it a try. I hate to hear about your accident. I hope you are okay and they caught the *** hole.

im not sure if teggys have them or not but also check and see if your fuel cut off switch was flipped, they're usually somewhere in your trunk under all the interior pieces. my buddy was drifting in his probe in the snow and he hit a curb with his back passenger side wheel and it cause the switch to flip. thats just another idea of it dying and something to look for if it isnt getting fuel when you restart the motor.

The should be fine. The fuel cutoff switch is mostly a ford thing. Were you able to get his plates??

Make sure you change the fluids before trying to start it, or atleast check them to make sure they didn't mix. Motor should be fine.

i bought a motor out of a crv that had been rolled. while the car was upside down oil made its way through the valvecover into the intake tube and flooded the intake manifold. when the motor was started it smoked like it was just seafoamed. after about 10 mins it stopped smoking but the intake manifold was pretty nasty. check everything related to the intake side of the motor before you start it. good luck.

Also I doubt your car looks worse than my friends Hatch, and he started it right after the accident happened...
