I actually called my states police department to ask. There is no law that says you can't convert your car to RHD, as long as the car is already an american car, with registration, etc.
So, that is why you couldn't import a RHD car easily, but you can convert your USDM car with no questions asked. Again, the postal service is to thank for this.

It would still have to pass state inspections/emissions/etc. So as long as everything is wired up right and everything safety wise is in check you should have no problems.

Re: (young geezer)
I converted mine to rhd. I picked up my clip that came with everything. Doors, dash, harness', interior pieces and everything for under the hood for $600. I live in va and from everyone i've talked to, its not illegal.

ok I dont understand why you would wan to change the side the car is driven on there are no power gains to be added I understand jdm specs and every thing but what is the point I fill that its silly that people would spend 600 dollars just to switch the stearing and pedals to another side of the car and move your blind spots

just for the wow factor... people put lambo doors on integras and it doesnt make u go any faster. And with people wanting to go all JDM what better way to make some one think u have a JDM car then by having it RHD

ok. my friend did a RHD conversion to his EG. you need to call the state department and your insurance company! its different everywhere. maine i know it is perfectly legal. trouble is when you go through tolls you need either a passenger or one of those long crane arms to handle the money
