Replacing Timing Belt

Replacing Timing Belt
First time doing timing belt, any suggestion will be very appreciated.
Car = 99GSR.
Do I need any special tools to replace timing belt and cam gears?
I have the Helm manual and have purchased these parts from Honda:
Timing belt
Water pump
A/C belt
Alternator belt
Skunk2 Cam gears
Also, How long should it take to install?

Re: Replacing Timing Belt (gofastgsr)
the only thing i suggest is taking your time dont try to rush it cause it does take a while to do...you have the manual so just follow everything carefully...you just need basic tools which im sure you have....probably like a 3-4 hour job if you do it straight....GOODLUCK

QUOTE=1998_4dr_gsr]uhh,, you'll beed a compressor or a huge breaker bar to take out that crank nut. Good luck![/QUOTE]
yeah either you will need a very strong compressor and air gun or you have to find something to hold the crank still... I bought a crank holder from summit but some people seem to be able to do it with a chain wrench.[

Re: (Toda Built)
I Am getting ready to do mine too, the only thing I don't get is turning the crank back 3 degrees after you reset the tensioner. I guess I'll figure it out when I get to that point.

Re: (94goldjungsr)
Just follow the manual step by step carefully. Also make sure to just loosen the tensioner bolt, don't take the bolt all the way out. I'll admit the first couple of times can be frustrating but after a couple of times you get it down. When I worked as a tech we use to get them done in about 30 minutes, much easier with a lift. I do recommend a compressor and a strong impact gun or you might not even be able to get your job started. Also check out some of the new aftermarket timing belts like Toda or Greddy if you got the doe. Their alot stronger snapping a timing belt sucks
