Default Replaced clutch/flywheel, roaring noise

So, I'm really worried. I just replaced my clutch and flywheel yesterday. I went with an Exedy OEM disc, and 8lb Fidanza flywheel. I've only put about 35 miles on it as of today. I noticed when I was heading home from work just now, that there's a roaring noise that sounds like it's coming from the transmission. I used Honda MTF that I picked up from the dealer, and I've read some things about people not trusting their new formula?

When I got into my apartment complex, I put it in neutral and let the clutch out, the roaring was definitely speed dependent. Also, there was a vibration-type sound that was RPM dependent only when the clutch was out. It occurs when sitting still and revving, and when actually driving in gear. The second noise was present before the clutch, and it's still there after the replacement.

I tried searching, but couldn't really find any answers pertaining to my problems. Advice?

1. for vibration noise go back and check those tranny mounts if they are lose they can cause this vibration you are hearing.

Did you check the pressure plate and bearing ?they mite need to be replaced..

2.check pressure plate and also "Release /throw out" bearing as if it is toast it would be noisy and that would rotate with engine speed?
im no mechanic just trying to help

Your flywheel is loose. Did you torque the bolts down properly?

im having somewhat of the same problem.... not a brand new clutch and flywheel, but the noises are present and sound the same to me. i think my throw out bearing/ my input shaft is bad or is starting to go out. i do need to change transmission fluid though.

I replaced everything with the kit. Clutch disc, pressure plate, flywheel bearing, and throwout bearing. And of course, the flywheel itself.

I torqued the flywheel bolts to 79 ft/lbs using quarter torque steps. First to 20, then 40, then 60, then stopped at 79. Also used thread locker on the bolts.

Also thinking about the roaring noise. It's not spectacularly loud, I really had to listen for it on the road. The sound of just engine noise makes it hard to hear.

I also forgot to mention I got two quick whiffs of MTF as I was driving yesterday, and last night. I checked underneath, and didn't see any leaks anywhere..

Honda mtf is fine that's not your problem. If you torqued the flywheel down then it is something else. Usually when throwout bearings go bad you'll only notice a sound when the clutch pedal is engaged.

Yeah, that's why I'm stumped. I have read something, this morning, about someone saying the input shaft bearing inside the transmission could be the culprit for the RPM-based noise.

My main concern is for the Speed-based *roar*. It's got me clueless.

Input shaft bearing will not roar. It would make a ticking noise and usually stops when you engage the clutch pedal

not exactly. it can also make the roaring noise, sometimes sounding like a bad wheel bearing. (my bad isb would roar at speed, did not make any noise at idle with the clutch pedal out)

It actually sounds like both! The *vibration* type noise would definitely be better described as a ticking. I was tired when I wrote the OP and couldn't think of a better term. :D

Can that be replaced?

In that case the ISB must be really bad already.

It's replaceable but the tranny will have to come out again. Did you have this problem before the clutch change? I don't see how it will go bad by just taking it off and putting it back on.

Yeah, it was there before. It sounds exactly the same as it did. If I would've known what it was, I would've taken the trans apart while it was still in the shop. Poop..

Sadly, I thought replacing the throwout bearing was going to fix it. I've never had an input shaft bearing problem before.

Oh well, time to plan for the next trans removal. :D

I can't catch a break. Today when I was pulling into the office, the CEL came on. Now I have to figure out what's causing that.

Oh, and the roaring seems to be getting worse by the day. I may have to replace the bearing sooner than I wanted to..
