Removing Valve springs. help!
Okay, im installing a set of crower dual valve springs on my LS b18b motor and i need to take my stock ones out. How do i do it without taking the head off. the heads gonna stay in the car. I have the the valve spring compressor, but my main issue is with the valve's. once i pull the stock springs out, the valves might drop into the cylinder.
how do i go about take n out the springs while keep n the head on?

i will be doing the install at my friends shop. I was thinking about filling the cylinder up with compressed air in order to keep the valves up in the head. My friend has one of those built in air compressor that he uses in his shop for his impact gun and other air tools. will this pressurized air be too much to be putting into the cylinder?

cool. so do u think that the compressed air that shops use for their impact guns will be safe to put in the engine? cuz thats the only air source i will have?

What I've heard that works is to rotate the crank until the cylinder you're working on is at TDC. That way, the valves lightly rest on the pistons and are unable to travel very far down. Just a suggestion.

cool cool. i was thinking about doing that. Putting cylinder #1 at TDC then doing the valve springs on cylinder 1 and cylinder 4 at the same time. then rotate the crank to put cylinders 2 and 3 at TDC and remove those.
lets say the valves do fall, but if the piston is at TDC for the cylinder im working with, how far will the valves go down? will it fall all the way into the cylinder or will the valves still be stick n up in the head so i will have enough to pick up the valves from the head?

I've accidently pushed a valve down as far as the top of the stem almost being flush with the valve stem seal. I was still able to finesse it out with my fingers, but I'd imagine that a slightly deeper drop could be dealt with using a magnetic pick-up tool.
I'll tell you right now that the higher the valve sits when you're compressing the springs, the easier it will be to remove and install the keepers (installation especially).

lol. i meant the pressure of the air getting into the cylinders. it wont do any damage to the rings and **** right? but that was probably a silly question on my part cuz u can turbocharge my motor with 12 psi so thats about the same air pressure than the air compressor is putting into my motor.
thanks for the help. im installing it next week, waiting n for the cams to come in later on today
