Default Rear main seal leak

I have a rear main seal leak. what exactly is that. from what i hear its the seal between the engine and the tranny. is that true? if it is how much would it cost to have the seal replaced? i also have a oil pan gasket leak and a power steering leak. the power steering leak is just the hose from the power steering resevoir to the radiator. Now with estimation how much would it cost for all of this to be replaced before labor charges and after labor charges?

Your probably better off pulling the motor and having it totally refreshed. A rear main seal is cheap but it won't be cheap to have someone put it in for you.

to replace the rear main seal you gotta pull the tranny, which is a bitch and a half. It will cost alot if u take it to a shop but if u do it yourself you'll save ALOT of $$ in labor

Actually if you're replacing the oil pan gasket at the same time as the rear main seal, it's a little easier because you can unbolt the piece that the rear main seal sits in.

Remove tranny, clutch, and flywheel, remove header, remove oil pan, remove oil pan gasket, and then unbolt the piece from the block that the rear main seal sits in (not sure what it's called). Replace rear main, bolt that piece back in, install new oil pan gasket, and you're good to go.
