I have hooked up a push to start on my motor since the key cylinder is shot. Whenever I put key in and press button, the car wont start the only way to start it is, to hit the starter motor with a hammer a few times. I have a new battery and when I push the button I just hear a ringing. Is this the whole starter, or just the starter solenoid?? If it his the whole starter can the b18b1 starter fit on a b18a1??

Usually its just full of dust, its actually quit easy to fix in most case with just washing all the inside parts with a wire brush or sand paper, look on youtube theres gotta be a few tutorial video if you dont know what I mean by that. Im not sure on the b in a ...being different obd (obd0 to obd1 or 2) it may not work but don't quote me on this tho.
