Re: (2000turbogsr)
I've only done two valve covers so far....
For this one, I used the gunmetal high temp rim paint...
For this one, I used walmart gold rattle can....
What I did....
1. used aircraft remover until all the old paint, oil, dirt, etc. was off
2. masked off the areas where the washers/oil cap go...
3. put vaseline or any oil base stuff with a q-tip ontop of the DOHC VTEC part, or whatever part you want to bling in the end.
4. shot a couple coats of cheap walmart primer
5. shot about 6 medium to light coats of whatever paint
6. wait until the paint is almost dry but sticky, then shot two coats of wheel high temp clear
7. let it dry like a **** (may take a few days) depending if you can put it in the oven or out in the sun.
8. took a razor blade and scraped off the areas I had put vaseline on
WALLAH! Fun to do if your bored and have an extra valve cover to play with....
next time, i will spend the extra money and get it powder coated to save me the time and headache of having it come out "perfect"
