2005 TSX

Not sure what exactly is wrong with the car. I was pushing my car hard tonight. Went around a turn, and then floored it to try and keep up with my friends Lexus. As we got to our destination, I noticed a grinding noise coming from the front wheel (not sure which one it was, but I think drivers side). At first I thought it might be the brakes rubbing because I was coming to a stop. So I took it out of gear, and let off the brakes, so I could hear the noise better. Still heard the grinding sound, and it was consistent with how fast I was moving. Could it be possible that I have a bad front wheel bearing? No steering wheel vibration was felt, and an hour or so later the car drove home fine, no noise.

The engine, suspension, and brakes are all stock. The only mod in the front is a Type-R strut bar.

The car only has 7600 miles on it. I just rotated the tires, but I had this grinding noise once before, although not as loud. The car is definately under warranty.

Any suggestions?

Check the wheel bearing...I've had this problem last year. I also had to replace the hub b/c it took so much abuse from the wobbling.

Does it stop as you apply the brakes, firmly, w/o coming to a complete stop?

Could still be the brakes.

Once while autocrossing I managed to get a pebble stuck between my rear rotor and dust shield. Made a very loud and scary grinding noise. I just took the wheel off, and popped the pebble out of there. You might want to look for that.

If it is the bearing then you would know. Take the wheel off and spin the hub, if you hear that noise then your bearing is going out. Or like what happened to me, you may just have a rock stuck in between your disk brake and your dust shield.

I've had a rock stuck in the rear brake as well, but I believe this to be very less likely up front.

If it has gone away, don't worry about it if it doesn't come back. Take it to the dealer if you want, though.

yeah i had that sound a while ago... exactly what you are talking about! but it just went away after a while... i dont have any problems now...
