negative effects of removed a/c belts?
i've read some where that if the a/c compressor isn't circulating the freon that's in there (since the belt is removed), the freon may leak or something overtime. i wish i could find the post but i know for sure i read something like that. is this fact or fiction? TIA -demitri

The negative effects would be ... your AC won't work!
When your AC is turned off, the refrigerant ISN'T circulating. If you want to prevent the seals from drying out, you turn it on once or twice during the winter. You'd have to install your belt to do that.
Why do you want to take it off?

more powah silly, why else?
What you get is lighter weight, not more "power". The power you lose from the belt & pulley freewheeling is pretty small. It only sucks major power when its switched on.

You are really only loosing a couple HP with the A/C belt hooked up... the clutch on the compressor is free-wheeling, and when engaged to pump the refrigerant is sucking HP off the engine. It's a pain to get on/off quickly anyway.
When it's 90 degrees out, you'll wish you had it!
There is lubricant in the refrigerant, and yes, the seals will erode if you don't run it from time to time.
For the HP freed up, I don't think it's worth it, but on the other side of things the complete AC system is heavy - compressor, evaporator, condenser, hoses. So if you take the belt off remove the rest too.
