Default NEED HELP TIMING GSR!

like the title says... cam gears are timed perfectly... however, the dizzy was just replaced... everyone says to "adjust to desired rpm" that doesnt work in my case because i have no set screw in my throttle body. the plug that is supposed to be removable to put the timing light on the flywheel to check for timing is a metal piece and its welded in... wtf??? what now??? im lost... how do i get it timed right...

okay i said this all sorts of ****in retarted... on the crank pully there should be a mark that lines up with the arrow on the plastic cover on the side of the block. i have no mark on my pully anywhere, and the cover is supposed to have 10 and 5 showing degrees before TDC i dont have that either... so idk how the hell to time it, it makes no sence to me...

The timing cover only has one mark indicating TDC.

What pulley are you using? All stock pulleys have marks like this ||| |.

The three marks "usually in red" indicate your ignition timing. middle is 16*BTDC. The single mark is white and determines TDC.

It's labeled TDC not 0. Middle of the three marks is 16* BTDC. The other two are +2 and -2 from 16. So 18* and 14*

Look on this link.

For the timing light, look it up on youtube. There is a clip on it of a dude showing how to do it. Sorry I don't feel like typing it all out.

Get a different pulley with the marks. You only set ignition timing at idle.

To make it easier leave the timing gun set to 0. You will see the marks on the crank pulley, you align the middle mark 16* btdc with the mark on the lower timing belt cover.

Some timing guns are more advance, and if you are not skilled enough just leave at 0. The video explains it.

A pulley is not that expensive. Craigslist my friend.

LOL, all three belts are hooked up to the crank pulley. Alternator belt is closest to the motor. Power steering in the middle and a/c on the outer. Might be vice versa on the power steering and a/c but you don't have them so no worries.

You'll be fine with no a/c or power steering belts hooked up.

Chances are your pully has the dents in the metal (for the timing marks) but that for whatever reason the paint is gone.

I went down to an auto parts store and picked up a paint pen - in yellow. They have a roller-ball point like some pens but have paint you can get in multiple colors (white, yellow, red, etc).

Get a bright light, find the marks, use a pen to repaint them - and then you can use the timing light.. the marks are on the inside (closest to block) edge of the damper (big pulley on the crankshaft).

Good luck

They are more like notches than marks...there should be there if you are using the OEM pulley...
