I have a 92 integra b18a

Initially I had a problem with starting my car.. it could push start no problem. got a new starter, alternator is good.. battery replaced changed some ground wires and voila it starts.. For a day or so, turning on the headlights would nearly shut the car down, that stopped happening, but NOW... anytime I hit my brake pedal weird things happen.

1. With no key: press brake at any pressure, makes THIS SOUND

When I let go of the brake the sound stops and my radiator fan turns on and the only way to turn it off is to put the key in the ignition, turn accessories on and then it turns off and I can take the key out and everything is off as it should be. Every time.


2. When the car is on and parked: pressing the brake pedal dims all dashboard lights including radio LED for as long as pressed, releasing brings all lighting back to normal. Every time.

3. When driving the car: pressing brake pedal dims ALL vehicle lights. Headlights and interior lights. Turns off radio momentarily. Every time.

Prior to fixing the ignition issue, this new issue did not exist. Ran smooth as butter other than the push start. Also I hear clicking behind/near my glove box which I believe might be a battery relay? Not sure.. So it feels like I am chasing a gremlin here. Any Ideas?

I'd focus on the ground wires, or whatever else you messed with.

Ditto the above^^^ when any unrelated circuit has an effect on another circuit, [pressing brakes, dims lights] it is almost always a grounding problem. 94

The grounds that I worked with are brand new and very straightforward, tran to battery, block to frame. What other grounds should I be looking for?

Any old ground that you removed, any new ground that you installed is what you should look at.

Yea the grounds are brand new, the only 2 I messed with battery ground to transmission and engine block to frame.. I have checked and rechecked them.. there is no corrosion, they aren't crossing over onto anything, nothing electrical is even remotely near them... So what other grounds should I be looking at?

Check the ground on the thermostat housing as well.

There are all sorts of grounds in both the engine bay and inside the car, mainly under the dash, your just checking the main grounds, [first thing you should have done] now start checking the rest, you will need a ground location schematic.

Just for ***** and giggles and it can't hurt, check your main power connections, batt. to engine bay fuse box and main fuse connections. 94

I have checked all the grounds that I can find, cleaned out the contacts for the thermostat ground as well. There is a chip in the main power fuse under the hood so I am going to replace that and see what, if any, effect it has. Anyone have a good site that has such a ground location schematic, that a layperson can read
