Jerking in First and Engagement into 2nd
What part of the car has to do with smooth shifting, like in my car. in first gear it will jerk sometimes, and then when i shift to second it will jerk again, and then go, i know it is normal. but would a new clutch fix that , or could i be the tranny? When i drive my friends Accord, or Celica it doesn't do it, so i know it's not my driving, or maybe is a little.

Re: Jerking in First and Engagement into 2nd (GS-Racer01)
too many variables, i had some mad probs with grinding in gear, and couldn't get it out of gear, then couldn't get it back into gear, etc, etc.
i posted all over, and called acura and had everyone drive it... everyone said the clutch was shot.
once i opened up the tranny, i find that part of the retaining clip on one of the clutch springs broke up and was stuck between the clutch surface and the pressure plate surface. i had already ordered a new clutch, pressure plate and all bearings from A&H, and i put them in anyways just to save from doing the job again, but the clutch surface was fine. my dad and a bunch of others said i probably ripped the clutch face off, but it turned out to be that retaining clip thingie-doo-dad on the clutch spring.
good luck

no i don't really have a prob, getting it into gear, just a little jerky after shifts. nothing drastic, but was wondering if it was my clutch or tranny.

Has it always been like this? Or just recently started? If you just started driving stick it might be your technique (which is the case with me) or if you got a new clutch, it could be that because performance clutches make it harder to drive your car smooth.
A worn clutch disc that is slipping exessively would actually have extremely smooth shifts right? Because it's slipping, it can't jerk the car...

Re: Jerking in First and Engagement into 2nd (dustin)
Hmmm...my GSR seems to be a bit jerky on shifting too. Like when you let out the clutch and the tranny seems to hesitate then engage with a jerk. I have just learned to live with it. Check your master and slave cylinders. Perhaps you are not getting smooth engagement on the clutch/tranny. I would think that if the slave was messed up, it would not move the shift fork smoothy.
Good luck amigo...

I don't think it is my driving cause it is smooth in other cars i drive like a 00' GTS celica, and 00' Honda Accord.

i'm experiancing the same thing...but my car is brand new. has about 900 miles on it. I can never keep it smoother if i shift before 3500 rpms. Same with me, it was smooth when i test drove the celica gts. Should i be worried about a bad tranny?

My car tends to jerk also. It's especially worse when the A/C is on. I just ride the clutch a bit coming into the next gear. I've noticed the more low-end i lose the worse it seems to get.
