integra no start please help!
ok so my friend has an obd2 1998 integra ls b18b1 motor manual transmission
he was driving down the street then his engine starts to stall then shut down
we start it and it turns on but motor is shaking like hell and rpm was like close to 0
so we unplug the vacuum from the pcv valve on the valve cover that connects to the intake manifold and the rpm went up like 2k rpm so that we can drive back to my garage
engine was really backfiring or misfiring through the motor and exhaust and it was stalling badly
when we try to start it cranks but no start
if we press on the gas pedal and start it it will run but not normal the engine sounds different and is shaking alot and when u let off the gas pedal it will sometimes die or idle very low to 0
this time we try to start it again with the gas pedal pressed the cranks but no start and backfires out the intake very loud like BOOM! also ull see gas out the exhaust manifold
im lost at what is the problem
heres what ive done:
try another engine harness
try another ecu
try fuel injectors all 12 ohms and o rings no leaks cant be it cuz i smell gas
test for spark and all 4 sparks plugs are lighting so distributor should be good right?
check firing order for plug wires
gaped spark plugs
cant be starter cuz it cranks
battery is good 13volts
check wires on all injector clips KOEO clip plug 12volt to both wires
switched main relay already
i even hook up obd2 to obd1 jumper harness and put a p75 obd1 ecu and its the same thing
i dont think its crankshaft sensor
last night my friends obd1 1995 civic d16z6 has the same symptoms(died on the hwy)
and still cant fix it
ive tried the same but not working
anything that will help give me a direction will be much appreciated
thanks

Re: integra no start please help!
Don't know if it's a helpful question, but how were you driving it at the time? (e.g. pedal to the metal, cruise, ?)
Any thoughts that it overheated and popped the head gasket?

I requested a short story for a title.
Re: integra no start please help!
if its obd2 then u should have an engine code of some sort,,arae there any?
kinda sounds like you jumped timing,,extremely backfiring and popping is a symptom of this

If it sounds like timing and isn't mechanical... how about electronics in the dizzy?

PROBLEM SOLVE!
i really dont know what i did though
i just hook up the old engine harness back up and change the fuel pressure regulator and the purge solenoid i believe on the top of the intake manifold
at first i started it and it did the same thing
then this time when i start it i press the gas pedal and then everything runs normal and idling good now
what a weird thing haha
but thanks for everyones help

Well first, congratulations! Sure glad it's come around.
OTOH, be nice to know the real problem, cause intermittent stuff is always the pits - tough to diag cause it won't sit still (be consistent while looking) and you never know when it may come back.
So - any chance that either the FPR or purge sol was sticking?
Keep 'er rolling!
