Re: Intake Review Thread
This thread is pointless. An intake is an intake is an intake. They are nothing more than an aluminium pipe that you could make yourself and function just the same.

Re: Intake Review Thread
Is this not an forums for honda enthusiast? And a forum for people looking for, pointers, tips and just general information. So dont you think if some1 thats might be looking for an intake might want to see diffrent kinds n what peoples impressions on them are? So If you dont mind keep the negative comments off the thread. Unless you want to post anything about your intake set up.

Re: Intake Review Thread
If performance matters, then intakes matter. I was reading a thread elsewhere that showed the dyno charts for CNC ITR .vs. Victor-X .vs. Endyn fiberglass .vs. ITBs..
Everyone seemed blown away by the ITBs - the HP jumped from 240's to 310... Differences between the others were in the 10's or so..
Just sayin.

Re: Intake Review Thread
Like I said, you could make one yourself and it will function the same as a $200 aem one. So actually, I am helping people that are looking to buy an intake by telling them not to waste their money. Another thing, those stupid intake pipes that are like an inch larger in the middle than both ends. You ever hear of you are only as good as your weakest link? Well the same rule applies to intake and exhaust, it's only as big as its smallest point. If you dont think that what I am saying is helpful, well then you are a fool.

Brand of Intake: Injen
Cost: $213
Year/Model/Motor: 1996 Acura Integra B18B
Mods: Nothing much yet
Impression: Good look, good sound.
Pros:
Cons:
Rating: Intakes are intakes. But yeah I like it

I live in california, so i had to buy one that was CARB legal, meaning it would cost alot more just to get an intake that was legal. However if you live in another state, buy an ebay generic intake, keep the arm, toss the filter, and buy a quality filter.

Re: Intake Review Thread
Owww. You know, when I first saw the thread title I though we were talking about intake manifolds.. my bad.
So, aren't a lot of the odd shapes designed to deal with resonances? I've noticed while tuning that at certain RPMs I can see the fuel/air change (and fuel requirements) and I'm wondering if that isn't one of those spots in the RPM band that hit a resonance.
It would be interesting to see some scientific or objective measure of what the various designs do for you - so if all you really get is 'pretty', then at least you could know what you're paying for..

However thats a comparison with intake manifolds... This thread is about the intake itself. There is a difference between buying one and making your own. However at least in my experience the difference is quite neglegable. And to some doesn't warrant the price difference.
Right now I have a CT Engineering ice box. However the car isn't running. But I bought this one because its basically a cold air however the filter is in the stock location with a pipe that runs under the wheel well. Since the filter is not in the wheel well the chances of sucking up water and hydrolocking your motor are very slim.
However this intake is more expensive then your average "cold air" intake, but its a great piece. But to each his own. I got what I liked and wanted for my car which is ultimately what matters most.

The real benefit of an intake is throttle response, and anything with decent bends (not crush bent) and a good filter should perform about the same.
AEM CAI for me, since I needed a CARB sticker.

Re: Intake Review Thread
I'm a bit leery of CAI's - my daughter hydro-locked an engine one night when it rained hard enough to have a creek cross the highway. Probably should've turned it the other way to make a snorkel! ; ' )

Re: Intake Review Thread
^ thats why people buy these,http://www.aemintakes.com/air_bypass_valve.htm its worth it to prevent that from happening. its a Air Bypass Valve, so if your filter gets full of water, it wont suck it up into the motor

Re: Intake Review Thread
If california didnt have strict CARB laws etc, I wouldnt have to shell $213 obviously. But I had to because I live here.
