How to tell gsr from ls countershafts?
I am in need of a counter shaft for my gsr tranny. I broke a few teeth on the ring gear, and all the teeth off the pinion. I got another ring gear that is identical to my old one, and another two countershafts that I thought were correct, had 15 teeth, but they don't wanna fit. It's really notchy, and doesn't rotate smoothly at all with the ring gear. I measured the outer diameter of the pinion at the ends of the teeth and it was about 51mm across. I figure the OD of one that will fit will be around 49mm or so. Does this sound correct? If so, is there a way to tell without measuring? Ive been searching for over an hour and haven't found an answer to my question. Thanks, RTV.

You can use a LS or GSR counter shaft. You just need the ring gear that goes with it (or FD). Its not good to mitch match counter shafts and the FD.
