Default How far back does your seat lean?

Anyone else here drive with their seat fully upright as far as it goes? I feel in the most control like that, although my head almost hits the roof

I see people leaning way back in their seats though... Don't understand how you can drive properly like that.

I also have the base of the seat as far up in front and as far down in the back as it goes. Like to have myself held in place.

The further i lean back the close I'll slide my seat in and visversa. I sit in the upright position and really close when racing though. It gives more control and i could shift easier that way.

My seat is usually only 2 or 3 slots from being fully upright. I always see people driving with their seat all the way back. Some as far back so that I can't even see them.

about 4 clicks off of straight up, but the butt of the seat has been dropped a signifcant amount. If I were to raise the back of the butt of the seat, it would be straight up.

dang the newer seats must have had more adjustments in them... mine only goes forward or back and reclining. I keep mine 4 clicks from straight up, and 2 clicks forward from all the way back.

I adjust the seat to keep a slight bend in the arms. And just far enough back so that I can still bottom out the clutch.

You don't want to ride with your arms crammed in there nor in the locked position, it may/will cause fatigue. Having the proper upper body adj. WILL help you control your car with much more ease.

You don't want to sit to close to the wheel in cause of Air-Bag deploy. Yet you don't want to sit to far back as you might not fully engage the clutch.

I feel that the driving position has more to do with safety than comfort. I will sacrifice my comfort level for the saftey of my passangers and other people on the road.

Now if you are at the track go with whatever you feel give you the best preformance.

I remembed reading on turnfast.com that the optimum seating position for road racing and autox should be where you can lay your wrist on top of the steering wheel at 12 o'clock and still have your elbow slightly bent. Your thighs should also be just slightly elevated off the front edge of the seat.

Unfortunately when I put the seat far enough back to achieve the correct position w/ my thighs (and to make heel-toe footwork even remotely possible), I'm usually too far back from the wheel. If you have an aftermarket steering wheel, one of those extended hubs comes in quite handy.

Yeah same here as my father would say, "no slouching!"

v. slouched, slouch·ing, slouch·es
v. intr.
1. To sit, stand, or walk with an awkward, drooping, excessively relaxed posture.

1 click to the rear, sometimes I do feel like sitting up right then again I feel very close to the front afraid of hitting my head against the steering wheel

Maybe I'm taller than some of you people, but I'm at least back 4 clicks from upright. Anything higher, and I hit the sunroof. I've also got the seat base as close as possible, to the point that one more click forward, and my knee would be in the dash. What I need is an extended wheel hub for a stock wheel, I don't want to give the airbag up. Heh, actually, an extension hub that adapts for an S2K wheel would be even better.

I can't put my wrist on the top of the wheel, much less with the arm bent, and I have to lean forward to adjust the stereo, though I can shift all the gears just fine.

Yeah, tell me about it. I was reading these responses and I'm like, "WTF I got screwed on my seats adjustments!"

Maybe I'm a little oversized for my teg but if my seat is all the way up I better have my sun roof open. I feel like lurch when I do that though.
