Re: HELP removing crank pulley bolt (TRH)
Easiest way: Get the tool from Snap-On.
Cheapest way: Take the flywheel cover off, jam a screwdriver in there. Put a breaker bar (or ratchet that you don't like, it might break ) on the bolt, then proceed to hit the breaker bar with a hammer.
I always opt for the second route and have never had any problems, but that doesn't mean you won't. Be careful.

(I'm posting for the guys in the garage)
They (reluctantly) tried the heat, and it worked. A big "whew" and THANKS from them!

Re: (fastfu)
theres a few companies that make tools to hold the crank pulley in place while you loosen the bolt. you should think about investiving in one ive never had a problem removing the bolt with it.

Did timing belts 4 times already. Airtools won't work. Screwdriver in flywheel and then put your ratchet on and slide a breaker bar on the ratchet handle (something like the jack crank bar or any kind of hollow bar that is long). Push steady and hard. Maybe put a leg on it. Don't hammer!!

I think you need the chain tool(can't think of the official name for it rite now), which goes around the pulley and will hold the pulley in place when you turn the breaker bar to the opposite direction. It shouldnt be hard.

I find that works whenever I don't have my crank pulley holder tool or if I can't fit it onto the crank pulley.
I prefer doubling up by putting the car into 5th and having somebody step the brakes.
A 2ft 1/2"-drive breaker bar from Autozone is cheap and effective if you don't have anything slip-on to use as extra leverage.
