Default Helicoil / TimeSert Quetion

Hey you guys know the bolts that hold the transmission to the block. One of the holes is messed up right about the slave cylinder. My question is do you have to take out the entire block to install either a helicoil or timsert? And are they hard to install?

You could definitely timesert it without taking the block out. Trans would obviously have to be removed. I'd imagine you could helicoil it as well. Not sure, never use the things.
