Default GSR vs TYPE R brake master cylinder

i have been looking on itrsport.com and searching through the ht archives and i have not had much luck. my question for you guys is, is the brake master cylinder for a gsr the same as the brake master cylinder as the type r?

because i have run into a brake master cylinder for a gsr, and i was wondering if it would work for a type r?

i was told that the itr and gsr one was different. I was going to buy an itr one from ebay, I asked the seller if it would fit a GSR correctly and he replied with "NO, the GSR & ITR master brake cylinders are different"..he also said some other stuff but i forgot. Not sure if what he said is a 100% accurate, but eh

It depends on if you're crossing the design change between certain years (i.e. '98+ or whatever year they changed it).

The older GS-R master cylinders and boosters used a diagonally placed bolt pattern and different sized flare nut threads on one of the ports.

The newer brake master cylinders and boosters are compatible no matter if it's an ITR or GS-R.

94-97 GSR is different that the USDM ITR. 98-01 GSR is the same as the USDM ITR. They are all 1".
