Grinding noise from tranny when clutch not engaged????
i just installed my motor with a new clutch, pressure plate and flywheel. its a new motor but my original tranny. my old motor never did this only the new setup i have.
as soon as i start the car the tranny is making a realy loud grinding noise. it only stops when i engage the clutch to the floor. if i put the car in gear n leave the clutch pedal to the floor it still goes away. it only comes back when i let go of the clutch, in neutral or any gear?
wat is the problem? bad input shaft bearing? or a bad throwout bearing? please help me out, and is driving around with this noise bad for my motor? i have 360 miles on it and dont want to mess anything up. thanks

sounds like the throw out bearing is touching the pressure plate fingers......did you bleed the clutch master cylinder after the new clutch was installed.....?
maybe the throw out bearing is no good.....?

flush the trans fluid twice.
noise will eventually go away.
it happen to me like a yr ago.(tranny still good)

it does sound like the input shaft although check your motor mounts and tranny mounts and make sure everything is good there I would say its probly not your fluid if the noise goes away then chances are you just wore whatever gears were grinding down just enough so that they don't grind anymore
check your clutch pedal adjustment it might be out of adjustment

how loud is this grinding noise?...sometimes when clutch is not engage and your car is in nutral the gears in the tranny still move. and might just be the parts moving. unless it's hella noticably loud then i'd take another look at it.
