Default Gas gauge wont go to "F" on a full tank...

I've searched but found no answers. I know its not a big deal but I am wondering why the needle wont go all the way to "F" anymore when I get a full tank of gas. It used to go past the last red line on be over the "F." However, the last 3 times I got gas, the needle stops at about 7/8 of the way. I've read that it sometimes depends on the gas station you go to since some gas stations have water + air in them (ghetto gas stations i guess lol). However I always go to Hess or Exxon. Any explanations as to why this is happening?

Replace the gauge. That's how I fixed mine. Don't know if there's anything else. The little motor that the needle sits on, just goes out after time. Just like motors...don't last forever.

yup. its not really a motor though. its a magnet, and magnets lose power over time...

Iam facing a similar problem, once I filled the tank and the pin only went to half, kept my car at the workshop for a month, when i filled it again the pin didn't move, i kept driving until i noticed the pin is dead and only the gas tank icon shines when i am out of fuel, could this also be the gauge motor problem? or fuel pressure sensor FPS?
thanks.

Not a fuel pressure sensor.....I think you mean the fuel gauge unit which is located in the fuel tank. I've seen those go bad as well. The fuel tank pressure sensor (FTP) has to do with emissions and has no relation to the fuel level.

What? Use some grammar next time asshat.

What would a pressure sensor have to do with a fuel gauge?
