Default Fast Blinker????? using LED bulbs

Hey there, I just installed my clear tail lights and i'm using LED bulbs in place of the 1157 and 1156 bulbs. For my reverse lights I have regular xenon bulbs, not LED and for the corner bulbs i'm using regular red 194 bulbs, not LED. When I'm using my signal the blinker blinks fast instead of blinking at a normal speed. All bulbs are working including my front bumper bulbs too. If anyone knows what i'm doing wrong please let me know. I know for a fact that the LED bulbs draw less power and are brighter therefore maybe the car believes that the bulbs are not being powered or they are not working.

I'd assume that your diagnosis is correct. It most likely senses a different current than it normally would so it alerts you of the fact...If it's not that, I have no clue.

What should I do then? Do you think I need to get rid of the regular red 194 bulbs and replace them with LED red 194? What other options do I have in making the blinker blink at a slower rate?

My 2cents... Get rid of the clears! They are dangerous and asking for trouble since they are always hard to see at night no matter what kind of bulbs you use. But just not to rag on you, I'll give u some usefull info. If the LEDs are drawing less power then your assumption is right. The relay is assuming that the rear signal light is blown and blinking faster. The only way to fix this is to add a resistor thats the right wattage/resistance to bring the wattage back up to normal levels. Or you could just stick some amber signal bulbs back there isntead of the red leds. But in all honesty, I would just drop the clear tail lights.

Why is everyone against the clearouts? I think they look nice. I'm not trying to make my car look like its fast. I'm just making it look nice. Thats my opinion. The LED bulbs work great and can be seen from a great distance at night. I haven't tried them in the day time to see how they work. Thank-you everyone for your help and I'll try and figure something out on my own. Take-care and have a happy holiday.

Peace

i had them because the leds looked better than the regular bulbs. yes they do blink faster. at least it dosn't give off pink light like regular red bulbs. i think clears look good on some cars, just be careful and try not to get rear ended.

I have a brake light on my type r wing and I also have a 3rd brake light in the back also. The LED's seem to be bright enough I think and if they aren't then I always have the other brake lights to help me. As for the pink it looks ugly. I'm looking for a pair of red 194 LED's because I have just regular red 194's for the corner in there right now and it looks gay. Thank-you everyone for your concern. BTW it looks phat as hell on my blue teg.

Blue is rare on tegs.

Anyone know if there is a relay that will slow down my blinker?

joe
