Door Adjustments... any success stories?

Door Adjustments... any success stories?
HT,
On this 96 gsr i just bought, the driver side door latch and the striker are misaligned so that the door has about 1/4" give up and down when the door is fully swung open. i could go the easy route and adjust the striker, but that doesn't solve the issue with the door moving up and down. Any success stories on adjust the door itself? I saw in the helms some suggestions, but i wanted to see if there was any real world experience/advice out there. thanks!
