da integra heater no work!!!!
What is up I have a 1990 Integra gs I have had it for over a year and a half and the heater has never worked in it. The blower motor works fine on all speeds it is just when I cut it on it will only blow cold! I don’t know how to fix a heater or don’t know anything about how it works can anyone help me trouble shoot this problem? Oh yea I check the heater core and I don’t see any leaks.

Re: da integra heater no work!!!!
is the actual valve where the coolant hose from the engine where it lets water into the heater core opening when you switch the control in the dashboard to HOT?

Same car, same problem. I've replaced the thermostat twice, replaced the radiator, flushed everything checked to make sure that cable was connected to the valve and still nothing. The next thing I'm gonna do is disconnect the hoses that go into the heater core and try to flush the core out. My only guess is that it's got a lot of build up being that it's most likely the original, so hopefully that will help or fix it.

Well I'm gonna try to flush it in an hour or so. I post my results if it changes anything. It sounds like we are in the same boat, so I'll let you know ASAP.

Re: da integra heater no work!!!!
No heat means the heater core is not getting hot. It's like a little brass radiator that works in reverse of the normal car's radiator. Instead of using air to cool the liquid, it uses the hot coolant liquid to heat the air passing over it (from the blower motor).
If it doesn't get hot then no coolant is flowing through it, which could be the valve on the firewall not opening, or it could be the dampers in the heater core not allowing the air to flow over it.
When the engine is hot, find the hoses going to the firewall, and see if either of them are hot. Have a friend move the hot/cold slider on the dash and see if the valve on the heater inlet hose opens or closes. Also check under the dash to see if the heater core feels warm (if you can reach it). Check those things out and report back.

Re: da integra heater no work!!!!
^^^ I will do this tomorrow. I flushed the heater core with a garden hose, but still no luck. Patrick, do you know of a diagram by any chance of the valve the opens and closes for the heater core? Could it be possible that (if there is one) the valve inside the housing is maybe jammed or stuck closed or something? I tried searching for a diagram but couldn't find anything. TIA

Re: da integra heater no work!!!!
Well, I just replaced the thermostat (again) just to see if that would change anything, but still no luck. Before I bought the car my brother had a new interior installed so maybe something didn't get connected. I hate the idea of taking parts of the dash out, but looks like I'm gonna have to take the heater core out and check to see that everything is ok on it. I'll check in when I am done, wish me luck.
