Default Compression/Leak down Test Results: BAD!!!!!!

Hi guys, I'm new here. I hope you can help me with a problem.

Today I did a compression/leak down test as well as a vacuum test on my 00 GSR.

I started by doing the vacuum test by connecting a gauge to the Manifold Vacuum off of the Fuel Pressure Regulator. During idle, the vacuum was approx. 20 in/hg (500 mm/hg). It was fluctuating very rapidly by about
2 in/hg. I'm not sure if that's normal. When I revved the engine up to about 2,000 rpm's, instead of the vacuum going down, it went down to about 16 in/hg and then back up to 22 in/hg. From my understanding when an engine is under load vacuum should go down. Please help.

Now on to the compression/leak down test. I made sure the engine was the proper operating temp. and the throttle was wide open when I cranked the engine. I cranked the engine 7 times.

Cyl 1---- 160 psi --- :after leak test ---195 psi
Cyl 2---- 165 psi --- : " " " ---240 psi
Cyl 3---- 175 psi --- : " " " ---265 psi
Cyl 4---- 177 psi --- : " " " ---250 psi

Those are some whack numbers!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure what's going on. My guess for the real low numbers for the first 2 cyls. are valve related. I do have a ticking sound from the engine and bent valves/ or damaged guides could be the cause. My idle is real smooth though. I was also thinking that it could be my head gasket but the numbers shouldn't have changed that dramatically once I did the leak down test right? If I have compression/blow-by problem, then I should be wasting oil as well; but I'm not. I hardly burn up any oil. The car feels like it's running strong, but these numbers have me baffled. My car has only 24,000 miles and I just bought it no more than 2 mos. ago so I'm pretty pissed. And I know if I take it back to the dealer, they'll give me some BS excuse to keep from helping me out.

Sorry for the long post, but I payed a pretty penny for this car and I really want to find out what's going on. Thanks

Ouch, sorry to hear about that.. The dealer is probably going to be your best bet though since its still under warranty, right?

I bought the car used with 22,000 miles. I've only put 2,000 miles since then. I have never misshifted in my life.

Today I did a cylinder leakdown test. I was mistaken when I thought that putting oil in the cylinder was a leakdown test. But anyway, I did it the correct way and the numbers I got were:

Cyl 1--- 85% -------- 15% leak
Cyl 2--- 92% -------- 8% leak
Cyl 3--- 100% -------- no leak
Cyl 4--- 99% -------- 1% leak

Cyl 1 is real low and #2 is kind of iffy. When I did it, I checked to see if I could hear the leak, I could not hear it from the intake or exhaust manifold. I also checked the coolant reservoir to see if it was boiling over, but no problem there. So that would rule out a bad head gasket or valves. I am thinking that I may have a broken ring land and the ticking sound I hear is the piston slapping against the cylinder wall. I really hope that's not the case but I'm out of other ideas.

As for the idle, I have a real smooth idle. The only problem I had with it was when I did a valve adjustment and messed up the lash on a couple of exhaust valves.

I'm gonna put my car back to stock form and take it back to the dealer to see if this would warrant repair. I'm hoping they won't give me sh@%. In a perfect world they would just give me a brand new b18C5 to make up for my troubles!!!!! LOL. Thanks for your guy's input though. If anyone else can help, please.

Anytime u add oil in the cylinder, your psi will go up. Are u burning oil also? Large amounts of burnt oil are usually because of bad oil control rings. Your Cylinder psi should be anywhere from 200-225 psi in all cylinders (because your car only has 24,000 miles) There also should never be a variance of 20 psi from any cylinder. Take it to acura and have them diagnose the problem

I don't burn much oil, if any at all. I'm pretty sure it's just my compression rings that's shot.

What I don't get is that I have no leak in cyl. 3 and only 1% leak in cyl. 4 but they still only registered a compression in the 170 psi region.
