Although they are much better now, all the freeware programs I have ever used have "bugs" and issues that never seem to be resolved. Hondata is much better if you plan on doing any self-tuning....atleast in my opinion. If you plan on dropping it off at the shop and letting them do it, I suggest doing whatever they recommend being that it will be the program they are most familiar with (ie, the one they actually know how to tune with and will do a job worth a **** with).

exactly. every tuner has a favorite program to use, there's not really a "best" one. just let the tuner use whatever it is they normally use.

unless your tuner has no idea how to use it.

Then i would suggest find a new tuner..

Crome is good freeware.. it's only as good as the person who is good with the program.

Hondata s200 or s300 is a better product though..

it's not always that simple. a small area might only have 1 or 2 good tuners, and you're limited to what they know and are comfortable using.

I personally like Hondata, but sometimes budget comes into the equation.

Go with what fits your budget or save for an S300. Totally worth it.

Semi off topic question. Lets say I have a socketed ECU and I wanted to go get tuned. Do I just tell the tuner that I wanted a program that they have? Like Crome or something?

May be a noob question, but I've honestly haven't taken my car to a tuner, just yet.

I couldn't use my Stock GSR ECU (OBD2) on my setup so I used a chipped P28 . I also had to use a piggyback (harness) to the little Blue Hondata box which connects to the P28. I then hot glued the crap out of the wire connections on the harness because they are notorious for coming unplugged on both ends of the Blue Box and the ECU. Hope this helps.

well, you probably won't have a choice, it's either use whatever program they normally use or don't get tuned. this is assuming that your tuner will be using something like crome or uberdata.

On Church automotive tuning's site, they stated that they do both Hondata and Crome. Would that mean they already have the Crome program or whatever?

i had a horrible experience with chrome pro. this tuner in vegas was hyping it up so hard but either the program or his tuning skills are ****. my car would idle funny when it was cold, it randomly died on me when driving and the gas mileage was ridiculous. i knew it would decrease somewhat but im talking 10MPG. hondata FTW

Bubba in Signal Hill gave me a great tune. 25+ highway miles. Werd.
