cf hood won't latch!!! HELP I TRIED EVERYTHING!
I just bought a bknw cf hood from a local. I bolted up all the hinges and everything, but when i go to close the hood the safety latch works, but the second latch won't lock it? I even tried leaving the hinges loose, so i can move it forward and back. It looks like the latch goes right down the middle and is even? No matter how hard i push or what angle, it won't latch! I tried adjusting the latch locking mechanism on the radiator support and i made it the highest, and it still won't latch? I measured the latch of the stock hood and it was around 1 3/4" while the bodykits nw hood was about 1" 3/8", but i don't think that should matter much? Any help would be great guys... thanks!

did you try adjusting those little round black bumper thingies (sorry, but i dont know what they're called) that you turn to adjust how the hood sits? maybe you need to turn them down or something??

is the latch too short? i had the same problem - all you have to do is try to pull it out more and BAM all set, but if you open your hood again then it would be a pain in the *** to put back on...

yea, i tried adjusting those black rubber things on the frame. I even took them completely out! Whenever i push down it wont latch and it just pops back up to the safety latch. Filing as in shaving it off?? The latch is short by like 1/4" but shouldn't that be made up for when i adjusted the latch lock on the radiator support?

what do you mean by that? The latch one the hood itself???

If this helps at all, i have to push my cf hood down very hard with the palm of my hand directly over the latch. I put all my weight if not more into it.

tried it. I actually put all my weight over the latch (feet off the ground and jumping up over it) Still nothing.

have someone holding the hood handle opener and then try to close it when its all the way down tell your friend to let the handle go and see if it closes if not replace your latch lock . also make sure your frame its straight

Or you could always take the latch out and use hood pins, what it sounds like though, is not that the latch is the problem its not going down far enough....Not trying to be a smartass, but are you sure nothing was under the hood? also have you tried adjusting the Hood Height Stems(little black rubber things everyone is talking about), that could be the big thing, you dont need them really without your stock hood.... but what I have done previouse dealing with Boser CF hoods, i just removed the latch and went with hood pins...Also if you're worried that someone can just open your hood, they make locking hoodpins that use a special key, I.E. nascar style pins.

Re: (Turbo Sleepers)
Well i'm going to run pins now, i ordered a set of sparco a few days ago. But the thing is i don't want people just to walk buy and just pop my hood, i need the latch to work too! I tried adjusting the stems already ( i even took them completely off) still won't lock. I tried having someone hold the hood realease opener from inside and tried putting it all the way down. Still no luck.

You need to move the stock latch up even more.
Take the hood latch out and ovalize the mounting holes so you can move it up even more. Install and you should be good to go.
Don't slam it closed on the first try, make sure the secondary catch has enough clearance to the hood deck.

try loosening the three bolts that hold the clamping thing to the car and raising it up. Mine does the same thing, have to raise it a lot. Going to use lock washers to keep the damn thing in place!

Re: (initialvtec)
yo, same thing happened to me with my cf hood. i tried moving the latch assembly thing all the way up and still it didn't click all the way, just the first click. I took out the latch thing and took off a spring, the one that's supposed to pop it open. Then i used a 2 1/2" nail and used black tape to wrap it around the hood latch. and BAM! it clicked. i dont know what it was...either the spring or the nail thing. although you still have to push kinda hard on the hood to close it, but it closes now. all i know is that the slightest 1/16" or 1/8" or whatever makes a difference. go try that out, it might work.

by ovalizing you mean make the holes like longer ? thanks for the replies guys.

don't mean to sound stuck up
but you get what you pay for
carbon-creations/extreme dimensions.....perfect fitment.....bolted on in 3 minutes, literally
perfect oem fitment.....latch lined up wonderfully
hood pins take away from the cleanliness of the car

Re: (yehiknowrite)
Yeah, try adjusting the locking mechaism/latch on the radiator support. There are 2-3(?) bolts that hold it in place. Try adjusting it up some more. You may have to adjust the rubber bumpers down some as well.
Good luck!
Good luck!
