Default CEL P1359 Crankshaft Position

i have a 97 gsr with a check engine light on. code reads P1359 Crankshaft Position/TDC/Cylinder Position Sensor Connector Disconnection.

what does that actually mean, and how do i fix the problem? any help would be great!

Did you have a T-belt/H2O pump replaced recently? If so it can be:

Coolant trapped between the crank sensor gear and sensor (behind the lower timing cover). This should have cleared out with a some driving so try resetting the light.

OR the wiring harness for the sensor was not tucked back into its holder on the lower t-cover and the alternator belt sawed through it and cut the wiring. You can look down between the alt belt and t-cover to see if the wiring is loose. This can be repaired by reconnecting the wiring but make sure you keep the ground shielding in tact.

OR your sensor may have just gone bad so replace it.

so if the crank sensor was bad, wouldn't the car not start right?

another thing, seems like when i get on it or even at idle the car tends to shake.. i was thinking that the shaking of the engine could possibly be missing a engine mount cause the guy i bought it from said he had new engine mounts put in. maybe he missed one? so i'll check for that.

also, would the shaking of the engine cause the CEL to come on for P1359 Crankshaft Position/TDC/Cylinder Position Sensor Connector Disconnection?
