well i just got done driving all over town and romping on my car, i had the heat on full blast to help it cool down and as soon as i got out of the car i poped the hood and looked at everything. the motor was really hot. i grabed the bottom radiator hose and noticed it was really cold! i have a fluidyne radiator installed.

is this correct or am i missing something? the water goes in the motor from the top and exits where the thermo is correct?

please someone give me some info this is stressing me out

wrong! liquid move from top of radiator to engine and back to bottom hose of radiator.

water goes from the head, to the top of the radiator, cools down, come out the bottom of the radiator, thru the thermstat, and back into the block

you need to look at all his fact

first he lives in Denver, the mile high city, so its going to cold as hell right now
and he has a fluidyne, and he had his heater on full blast to cool things down,
that tells me that his cooling system was working too well,

it would be normal to see the water coming out of the radiator to be cool to the touch

no its not overheating. i just changed the thermo like 2-3 months ago when i put in my fluidyne, i also changed the hoses at the same time. the bottom hose have pressure and feels like there is water in it so i dont think its air in the system.

its fine. Trust me.

Only time the bottom hose will be hot is either on a hot day after alot of driving, or if you really romp on the car for a long period of time (IE a long section of twisty backroads where you dont go below 5000rpm), then pull right over.

ok if it is not overheating then water is circulating, sounds like the fluidine is kicking ***. but i bet if you let it idle for a while the lower hose will be warm but with these temps and driving around it most likely will be cool. but the confusing part is you say its not over heating but you said you had the heater on to cool things down????

yeah i was wondering that same ? when i was lookin at my rad, one was real cold n 1 was hot so i know everthings workin well

it should be at least warm if its cold the ur thermostat might not be working. but if your temp guage doesnt say its hot then i guess its not. i was running a fluidyn and it was atleast warm.

Yeah, I'm with sumyungguy...........bottom hose shouldn't be cold after the thermostat opens

The bottom hose should be cold, even if the thermostat does open. When it opens, it lets the hot coolant into the radiator (and remember, the thermostat opens to allow the hot coolant to leave the block, so cooler coolant can come in). This hot coolant is now flowing through the radiator, waiting to be cooled down. With tempatures that low and alot of air passing through the radiator, it is going to cool the coolant down drastically. Now this is being sent back into the engine, at a low temp, which is good, b/c that means the radiator is doing its job. This cold coolant will hit the cylinder walls and heat up again, and the process repeats. My radiator did the same thing in the winter, and I always had very hot heat in my car.
