Best Launch on a Teg
I'm going to the track this week and I want to find out with you guys what your best launches are and how you do it... what RPM before you shift to 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. What is the best way to get the best quartermile time? I have a GSR. thanks again.

Re: Best Launch on a Teg (importthugs)
In F1 it's 3/4 throttle and let the clutch go when the lights go off Then again... this isn't F1 but it's an interesting tidbit.

I put the tach at about 3000-3500 and feather out the clutch.
of course the only time I have gotten to race on the QM I had the stock tires and was launching at 2000 so I can't tell you if that is the best method or not, as I haven't used it on a track yet.

Re: Best Launch on a Teg (samagon)
I was always told to hold it at 3k, let the clutch out to where it starts to grab.. light drops, let go of the clutch... when the wheel stops spinning, push the gas to the floor and shift at redline... 8k...
good luck

good burnout and feather the clutch at 4500
u want 2.2 60's or better
and you gotta shift really good
i was able to get 15.0 @ 88 mph 2.3 60'
thats quik shifting i think

I rev to 4500 or 5000rpm and slip the clutch until I'm happy with my progress. That's the only way to describe it. You 'feel' how your car is and you'll learn after some practice when is best to take your foot off the clutch, when to let off the gas to stop wheelspin, when to get back on it, etc etc.

I rev to 3500rpm on my stock tires. Feather it for a split second and drop the clutch and floor. Spins for a second, but the tires catch the road and I get satisfying launches. You should go out and practice. Try everything. And pick whatever you like best...
Practice makes perfect. Firt time out the track, everyone gets dissapointed, but after you get the hang of it, you get a helluva lot better times than the first.... Good luck!

Re: Best Launch on a Teg (GS-Racer)
The best way i found to launch my car was to just fully dump the clutch at 5200, and it will spin a bit but ever drop below like 4800. I can pull 2.3 60' with this technuiqe. I ran a 15.3 at 91mph this way. I also run at 28 psi, this works great for me. Good luck

Re: Best Launch on a Teg
What if you have a set of good tires like some Toyo Z-rated tires or somethin... and you just hit the gas straight... and didn't hold the gas at a certain RPM range like you guys say... has anyone had any experience with this if it gave any good results... i know it doesn't sound much like a strategy but what do you think? thanks for your posts

hit the gas from idle? it would bog...
if you drop the clutch...which is basically just hittin the gas from about 4k rpms your asking for a lot of tire spin...
you just have to practice...all tires are different

Re: Best Launch on a Teg (01GSR)
hey, what about shifting... do you guys have a secret rpm range before you shift to 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc...? .... and when you finish the quartermile do you actually get to shift to 5th or do you just end up at 4th gear and just let it go???

4th will be the last gear you need for the 1/4 mile....in my R I launch at about 5800 and ride the clutch a little bit....I also have LSD so I can launch a little higher than a GS-R....shift at redline and very fast. if you feel wheel hop from first to 2nd try to shift a little easier on the shift your next run

Re: Best Launch on a Teg (Spoon Guy)
Actually it's full throttle now, what with traction control and electreonic starts and all... no more tire smoke, just stranded stalled cars (although not lately!)
