Another My Car Burns Oil Thread
I have a 2000 gsr stock minus bolt ons with 105k on it but the problem started right when I got it with about 70k.
She burns about a quart every 1500 miles, which isn't a big deal I just always top it off. I use fully synthetic everytime, someone told me that it has more burn off but I never change my oil right at 3k, rather 5k usually. You can also see on the exhaust that there is a black coating and on the bumper because I haven't washed the car in like a month.
I'm just wondering if its worth getting looked at and is it going to hurt my engine over time? My civic had the same exact issue which never caused any problems in the long run and I had that thing until like 140k and only got rid of it cause of other stupid issues.
Thanks for the input
Just felt like posting a pic of the car

Re: Another My Car Burns Oil Thread
Startup seems fine and nobody has ever said they seen my car blowing smoke when driving behind me, so I assume when it hits vtec. It does smell like gas or something when I start it up but I always assumed I had some kind of gas leak, my cel did go off once before because of that but it could have been coincidence because it hasn't been on ever since I deleted the code.

common for the b18c1 and b18c5. change your pcv valve! this will help some, actually they should be changed yearly. the OEM ones from the dealer are the only valves i would ever buy since they actually work correctly. one quart every 1500 is no big deal. when it gets to one quart every 500 the motor is getting near death. normally an exhaust valve will fracture from getting coated with oil over and over. the oil coating acts like a blanket and reduces cooling at the seat.
btw, what was the CEL code for?
